Officers stun mastered before they can use a taser gun gun

This Tuesday and Thursday, officers are undergoing taser stun gun training at WDPS, which for the most part, consists of video and written lessons and a test. But the written test isnt what had officers apprehensive this week. Before they could carry a taser c2, they had to experience what it was like to be shot with one.

WDPS Chief Wayne Yates said he started looking into the possibility of the department carrying the non-lethal electric shock weapons two years ago, but waited until he had more information on the weapons effectiveness and safety.
